Cassia CNA Program

Free CNA training is currently available at Cassia communities in:

• Apple Valley
• Buffalo (2 campuses)
• Dassel
• Hastings
• Hopkins
• Maple Plain
• Maplewood
• Milaca
• Minneapolis
• Moose Lake
• Princeton

All training locations are embedded within actual Cassia care facilities, allowing students to learn and practice in the same settings where they’ll eventually be employed. This model creates a smooth transition from student to staff member.

The training includes everything you’d expect from a state-approved CNA course:

• Online and in-person learning to fit different learning styles
• Instruction from experienced caregivers and nurse managers
• A full scholarship covering tuition, books, and certification testing
• Guaranteed job placement upon successful completion
• Support from a dedicated team, including mentorship from experienced CNAs and nurses

This program prepares students to pass the Minnesota CNA competency exam and be placed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry, which is required for employment.

What sets this program apart is the long-term career pathway it provides. Many of Cassia’s current nurses, managers, and directors started out as CNAs. If you’re planning to eventually become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN), Cassia offers ongoing education assistance and promotion opportunities.

Additionally, the organization employs a wide range of healthcare professionals—therapy staff, dietary aides, administrative roles, and more—so there’s plenty of room to grow even beyond the CNA role.

To join the Cassia CNA training program, you’ll need to meet a few basic eligibility criteria:

• Be at least 16 years old
• Be committed to working at one of the participating Cassia communities upon completion
• Pass a criminal background check (required for state certification)
• Be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Submit an application online or via email with basic information and your work location preferences
• Optional: Attach a resume or cover letter for review

Applicants should expect a follow-up from Cassia to discuss training schedules, work preferences, and next steps for onboarding.

While specific start dates and class times vary by location, the training typically includes a mix of online lessons and in-person clinical skills practice. The hybrid model allows students to complete much of the theoretical content at home, which is ideal for those balancing other responsibilities.

In-person sessions take place at Cassia facilities and provide hands-on practice under the guidance of licensed staff. This real-world training environment helps students get comfortable working directly with residents before stepping into a paid role.

Once certified, CNAs are immediately eligible to work within Cassia’s network. Roles are available in long-term care, assisted living, memory care, transitional care, and adult day settings. Scheduling flexibility is available, with part-time, full-time, and on-call positions, including second and third shifts—ideal for students or those seeking a second job.

Some positions also qualify for student loan forgiveness programs, and additional scholarship support is available for those continuing to nursing school.
