Training Intensity

Classes run Monday through Friday, with lectures and labs held from 9 am–1 pm, coaching from 8–9 am and 1–2 pm, evenings 4–8 pm, and weekends 9 am–4 pm. Students complete 2.5 weeks of theory and lab, followed by clinical training at a long-term care facility. No missed clinical time is allowed.

Course Content Breakdown

In Week 1, students learn healthcare basics—communication, safety, vital signs. Week 2 covers personal care, nutrition, elimination, and care for special-needs residents. Week 3 focuses on clinical skills and testing. Week 4 is dedicated to state exam review and preparation.

Instruction and Facilities

Instruction is led by three registered nurses (Elizabeth Marigi, Bessy Mairura, Eva Marigi) who bring extensive CNA/HHA experience. NMHI provides both live online sessions and in-person labs to simulate real-world care environments, followed by placements in partnered long-term care facilities.

Certification Pathway

Graduates earn a certificate on passing the Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation—covering both skills and written tests. Once certified, students are listed on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry and can work in nursing homes, clinics, and in-home care. Skill retention is high, thanks to immediate clinical application.
